Shelter - Refugio cabaña Vega de Liordes

Description

6 beds Free to use 1860m

From Fuente Dé, it is accessed through the so-called Tornos de Liordes, an old horseshoe mining road that allowed the zinc ore to be lowered from the mining exploitations of the Vega de Liordes in the 19th century. This road enters the central massif through an inaccessible canal from Fuente Dé, between Peña Remoña and La Padierna.
The road starts with a gentle ascent until the Tornos are reached. From there just over an hour of authentic climb, until you reach the Collado de Liordes, from where you will stay about 20 minutes to the refuge. The refuge is located in the Picos de Europa National Park. The refuge is located in the community of Castilla y León.
Other access: from Cordiñanes (Valle de Valdeón) through the Asotán Canal and accessing the Collado de Remoña, through the Vega de Liordes from the Pandetrave port (more below the town of Santa Marina de Valdeón (LE-243)) or Fuente Dé by Cabán de Remoña.
From Cordiñanes 3 h; from Cabán de Remoña 2 h.

Description of the refuge: Size: for 4-6 people maximum, about 5 meters long by 2 meters wide and 2 meters high. It is a sturdy, small and somewhat dirty cabin if people leave the door open and the animals enter. You sleep on the ground then outside the summer months you suffer enough humidity. It has a very small fireplace, it is open all year round and the best feature is that it has a fountain with excellent water only two minutes away, in full Vega. It is indicated by posters.

Ascents: Torre de Salinas (2,416), Llambrión (2,642), Torre Blanca (2,617), Peña Remoña (2247), Pico de la Padierna (2,319).
