From the A-8 (Cantabrian Motorway) whether you come from Santander or if you come from Gijón exit at exit 326 and take the N-634 towards Les Arriondes where you will take the N-625 to Cangas de Onís, following the road, many more kilometers, between the town of Ribota and Oseja de Sajambre, you have to take the CV-80-8 to Soto de Sajambre.

To reach the refuge:

The main access road to the massif of the Cornión by the South. Departing from Soto de Sajambre, it leads to Frade and Vega Huerta, at the foot of the same Santa Peña.
Upon reaching Vegabaño we continue our way through the beech forest and cross the Dobra river. When leaving the forest we reach the Collado del Cueto.
The forest ends and we cross a stretch of thicket to the other pass (Horcada Salambre), where a little further up we will start to see the Frade refuge on the other side.
It is indicated by posters and by the PR-PNPE-9 and white and yellow horizontal markings.
Around the refuge is the source of the frade, and streams.
The refuge is located in the Picos de Europa, within the community of Castilla y León.
