Shelter - Refugio RESTANCA

Description

80 beds Paid 2010m

La Restanca refuge is a mountain refuge in the Pyrenees, located in the province of Lérida, in the Alto Arán region, at an altitude of 2010 m, next to La Restanca lake, at 2007 m, dammed and converted in the reservoir of the Valle de Arán Lakes, which pours its waters into the Rius and joins the Garona in Artiés.

The refuge is located west of the peak of Montardo, 2837 m, and northeast of Lake Mar (2260 m), which drains into the lake of the Restanca, next to the refuge, the waters from the peak of Besiberri North (3009 m) and of the mountain range of Tumeneia (2783 m).

La Restanca is located at the northwest end of the Carros de Foc route, a 55 km journey that runs through all the refuges found within the Aiguas Tortas National Park and Lake San Mauricio. The route arrives at the refuge from the south by two different hills from the refuge Joan Ventosa i Calvell, the Port de Rius, to the east, at 2475 m, and the Coll de Tumeneia, to the west, at 2604 m altitude. From the port of Rius, however, the Carros de Foc route continues east, crosses the port of Colomers, at 2572 m, hardly descending, and heads to the shelter of Colomers, at 2138 m, which is the next stage of the crossing, or the previous one, depending on where it proceeds from.
