The Costabona refuge is located between the towns of Setcases and Espinavell, touching the French border. The village of Setcases is accessed by the Camprodon road, and in Setcases are 14 km of forest track to the pass of Fonda, and access from Espinavell are 10 km of forest track to the pass of Fonda and from the pass of Fonda are about 45 minutes on foot.
The refuge is in good condition to be able to spend a couple of days, and also has several routes to its surroundings as well as several shelters such as the shelter of Jaume Ferrer, the refuge of the Saleres de Caderget among others.
