ACCESS:
by car: Granada take the A-44 to exit 164 where we take the A-348 where in Orgiva, in the back of the town we follow the road and the directions to Capileira. Up to Puerto Molina, there are about 15 km from Capileira; beyond the track is closed to traffic.
Without vehicle: Granada to Capileira you can use the public transport of the company Alsinas Graells. You can use the services of the company NEVADENSIS in Pampaneira, telephone number 958 76 31 27.
On foot: 2 hours 30 minutes from Puerto Molina on the Capileira track. 1 hour 30 minutes from the Refugio Poqueira (guarded) by the river Mulhacen. 3 to 4 hours from Puerto Molina. For this access there is a section very exposed to avalanches and falls on steep slopes (Paso de la Cruz), on the hillside O. Del Mulhacen. Safer access from the Poqueira refuge (saved) on the right bank of the river (1 hour 30 minutes).

It is in very good condition, it is usually clean and well preserved. It has capacity for about 20 people quite comfortably, although they fit more if one "tightens". In case of need, and sleeping on the floor, or on the benches, there are enough more people.
The door closes well, it is a double door, that is, it can be opened whole, or only the top part, in case the snow covers the lower part.
Water can be found in the neighboring Laguna de la Caldera, or in any of the lagoons that are close to it, and that drain. Also a little further down, in the Majano Lagoon. The Laguna de la Caldera does not drain, so it is advisable to take water purification tablets in case the others are dry.

This refuge constitutes a magnificent base for ascents to Mulhacén, Puntal de la Caldera, Scrapes of Río Seco, and even Cerro de los Machos, Veleta, Alcazaba ...

In winter it can be covered by snow.
