REFUGE OF THE SOURCE OF THE BERRO:
It is a fairly large construction, which is structured in two parts. One of them, on its front, has a porch with fireplace and a room with window, fireplace, table and benches. It can be used to bivy 4 to 6 people. He is quite careless. The rest of the building, which is accessed by a side is intended for stable, with feeders for livestock and a small loft. It is not habitable. The Recreation Area that surrounds the refuge and in which we find the Fuente del Berro, some banks and grills, is very neglected and presents the unfortunate aspect of almost all the places that can be accessed by car.
SITUATION: Picos de Urbión, in Soria.
ACCESS: On the CL-117 we reach Duruelo de la Sierra. At the exit of the town in the direction of Covaleda we take the asphalted, signposted track that passes next to the Pools and Polideportivo, in the direction of Castroviejo. At about 7 kms. We find a detour, signposted, to the right that indicates the Refuge of the Fuente del Berro. From here the track is macadam, in good condition. We arrived at the shelter right away.

Located at the foot of the Urbión, anteroom to Peñas Blancas, you will find a refuge in which you can eat and enjoy a peaceful and pleasant rest. In its upper part a sleeping area is enabled, which in certain periods remains closed to the public. Its use must be expressly authorized by the Mayor.
Typical refuge where the old carters, lumberjacks or shepherds when they could not reach the town stayed overnight. From this refuge the tranquility is assured, in a space surrounded by nature and where is one of the first sources of the Douro, that newborn, descends by the slopes, that surround you there.
