Shelter - Refugio Garita

Description

From Santander take the A-67 (Cantabria-Meseta Highway) towards Torrelavega where we connect to the A-8 (Cantábrico Highway) towards Zurita where at exit 228 we return to the A-67 to exit 168 of Los Corrales de Buelna, take the CA-803 through the town of Lobado until you reach Collado.

Get off at Los Corrales de Buelna train stop. From there go to ask for the keys to the haberdashery Cos and then the climb begins. You have to go up a road to Collado de Cieza. The road is full of curves. First we will pass through a town called Lobado. Afterwards, it continues climbing all the way until reaching Collado de Cieza. In this town you can already see the refuge on top of the mountain. Now it's time to go cross country up, until you reach Garita, the refuge. It has very good views too.

Duration: From Los Corrales it will take about 3 hours.
